Grandmother Pile's Cream Puffs (author's favorite)
Makes about 2 dozen
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup flour
- 4 eggs
Instructions
Put butter in boiling water. When melted dump in 1 cup flour. Stir and stir until forms a ball. Remove from heat and beat in 4 eggs - one at a time. Drop on buttered cookie sheet in lumps a bit larger than a walnut - 2 inches apart. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes, reduce heat to 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Makes about 2 dozen. Fill with cream filling. To do ahead fill with ice cream and freeze. Good with chocolate sauce poured over.
